During your consultation, your endodontist will provide you with all of the information you need to arrive for your procedure fully prepared and enjoy a smooth recovery afterward. In addition to the in-person guidance you’ll receive during your appointment, we have put together some general information for you to consider before and after your endodontic procedure in North Palm Beach.
In most cases, your dental procedure will involve little to no preparation. However, there are some things you may need to be aware of, depending on the details of your treatment. Specifically, if your treatment plan includes oral sedation, you should arrange for a close friend or family member to drive you home after your procedure.
Local anesthesia administered during your treatment will help to minimize discomfort immediately after your appointment. Depending on the extent of your procedure, you can expect mild to moderate soreness or tenderness after your visit.
However, these minor side effects should be easy to manage with over-the-counter pain medication. You may also be instructed to avoid eating hard or sticky foods with the treated area of your mouth while you heal. Some foods we recommend include smoothies, apple sauce, and yogurt. If you have had oral sedation, you will be able to eat as soon as the sedation wears off and you feel hungry.
